Xtreme Short Track Contest – Season 2

19 11 2007

Alright, we’re now ready to get the second season of the XSTC going. What does that mean? It means tht you can now submit tracks to the contest!

For those of you who didn’t participate in the first season, the Xtreme Short Track Contest is all about building cool, innovative and entertaining TrackMania United tracks. The catch? The tracks must be no longer than 15 seconds long! (15.99 is the maximum author time allowed.)

Here’s all you need to know to get started:

  1. There are three groups: Original (Desert, Rally & Alpine), Sunrise (Island, Bay & Coast) and Nations (Stadium). You may enter max one track per group. Please also note that the groups are a division of the TMU environments, not the spearate games (this is a United only contest).
  2. A season lasts two weeks and is divided as follows: week 1 – you may submit tracks, week 2: judges rate the tracks. Please also remember that the three groups are judged separately – for example, Stadium tracks are not compared to Alpine tracks.
  3. There are certain rules tracks must follow (see below), or they’ll be disqualified.

To enter the contest, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Create one or several tracks (max one/group)
  2. Make sure your track(s) meet the requirements below.
  3. Upload the track(s) to TMX.
  4. Copy/paste the link(s) to your track(s) and send them to the contest using the contact page.

DEADLINE: Sunday, 25th of November.

The rules tracks must follow include the following:

  • No track may have an author time longer than 15.99 seconds.
  • Tracks must be named “TrackName (XSTC)”, where “TrackName” of course is the actual name of the track. Example: “DirtMania (XSTC)”
  • Tracks must first be uploaded to TMX in order to enter the contest.
  • Race tracks only. No Stunt or Puzzle mode, and no pure PF tracks.

Other than that, there are no limitations to the style of your tracks, but if you read the section about judging on the Detailed Rules page, you’ll find that there’s extra weight on well made design (smoothness, etc.) and innovation.

All I can say now is good luck, and I hope we’ll get to see a lot of wonderful tracks, just as we did in season one :D

How many tracks can you enter? There’s no detailed information anywhere.
If I were you, I would set a max=1 track rule. This way people will think better about what to enter, and you can do the judging faster :)

Max one track per group per author. It’s said on the “join” page, and even in the post you just commented :P

That means max three tracks per author in total every round (on in any Original environment, another in a Sunrise environment, and a third in Stadium). As it’s not as easy to join now as it was in the first round, and as the deadline is only a week away instead of two, I’m fairly sure three tracks/author is not too much ;)

Oh, and I’m sorry if information is a bit hard to find. Please provide any feedback so I can improve the site ;)

Theres only 1 feedback I can give you, and that is that you should integrate everything into one site. You even posted on the tmublog to link to this post, because no-one else will probably read it. I’d say use the tmublog and tmx, like you always did :)

That’s only now that the site is new. The third round won’t get as much publicity by myself from ourside this site…

But if the site isn’t visited enough, I might consider going back to TMX/blog only.
